Fabulous Friday: Red lips how to

Maria Vlezko, fashion blogger, Sydney, beauty blog, red lips makeup how to

Red lips makeup is the easiest way to add chic to your look . Whether you are wearing plain outfit, dark colours or funky evening dress, just add hot red lipstick and no need for other accessories. In addition, it was discovered that men prefer red lips over other types of makeup.

So here is a how to guide to perfect red lips!

The very first step is to create perfect Base and Eyes:

1) For a flawless complexion start with a primer to create a smooth surface across any fine lines. This will also help your makeup to last longer. Follow with a good coverage foundation. If needed, use a concealer under the eyes and on any problem areas.

2) For a 100% chic look, keep your eye makeup minimal when you are wearing bright lip color. Neutral eyeshadows  i.e. nude, beige or light grey and two layers of mascara should be enough. Keep brows well-groomed too.

3) Apply a light pink powder blush on cheeks or, for a sun-kissed look, a little bit of bronzer on cheeks and chin.

Now lips:

1. To create a perfect shape, make 6 symmetrical marks on your lips with a lip pencil.

Makeup artists’ trick: For that plumped lips look, before contouring, apply a concealer or highlighter on area around your lips. This will create a perfect base your lips makeup and prevent lipstick from bleeding into fine lines.

2. Contour your lips connecting the 6 marks.

3. Smudge the contour.

4. Apply first layer of lipstick, pat it in with your index finger or, if you have one, with a brush. This will make sure the lipstick goes into every little line on your lips.

Makeup artists’ trick: Blot your lips with a tissue to seal and then apply second layer. This will guarantee your lipstick hold on to your lips for longer.

6. To add extra volume to your lips, apply a tiny amount of a lip gloss in the middle of your lower lip and pat it in.

Red lipstick is my favourite makeup staple. No matter how tired you may look, some red lippie and minimum eye makeup (liner & mascara) and you’ll look fresh and rested. :)

    Love your look!
