5 Fashion Trends Women Love Men Hate
There is seems to be an inverse relationship between certain fashion trends – the more women love them the more men hate them. I certainly consider it chic when a harem pant (or loose jumpsuit) paired with a jacket, a bootie heel and a ton of pearls while men would award such outfit with a sad look (at best!). Just another evidence that men are from mars and women love fashion.
*In no way the below list is scientific, definitive or accurate, it is just a compilation of observations and quotes made by men around me.
1. Harem pants
That is the most comfy female fashion trend, which guys apparently hate the most. Why? Because these “strange floppy things” cover the best women’s assets: legs and backside. “Harem pants?? Are you talking about these stupid pants that came down here (making slicing gestures just below knee level). They look like an accident in toilet happened”
2. Leopard print
Leopard print was voted as the most popular amongst females (via a poll on my Chictopia). Yes, we think it is sexy, powerful and chic. What do men think? “The standard uniform of a desperate woman”. Full stop.
3. Jumpsuit
Don’t you love them? In silk, in cotton, slouchy, tight, plain black or printed… “How do you pee in these things?” is the first question men ask when explained what a jumpsuit look like. Once I tried ‘from a lust-list’ jumpsuit on and demonstrated it to my partner seeking his approval. He said “What would you say if I wore a sack with a belt?”
4. High waisted pants
High waisted jeans, flares, pencil pants and short filled runways and style books. Reality check? Unless you are a model of size 4, this style is not for you. Why? “It makes even a skinny girl look heavy”, “It does not accentuate your waist but belly!” and finally: “Imagine if I walk around with my pants pulled up just below my arm pits? But women seem to think that if everybody else is doing then somehow it looks good” Sorry, Jessica Simpson!
5. Clogs
Finally, the shoes featured almost on every fashion blog and considered high style amongst female fashion elite! First reaction from a guy: “You must be kidding me! Are you talking about traditional Dutch shoes? You can’t wear that!” Second reaction (clogs’ existence was proved by a photo of Chanel’s $800 clogs): “Probably they were practical up till 17 century before the non-wooden footwear was invented, but why now?”
Conclusion: unless you are a stylist from Vogue, it may worth to bring along your male friend just to get honest opinion about the super-fashionable piece you are about to splurge on.
Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, ladies and gents!
xx

LOL, I must be more male than female – wouldn’t be caught in any of them ;)
Hi! Men have a different sense of fashion than women. But in some cases I agree with them. Like in the case of the harem pants and the clogs. The other trends in your post I like, but not these 2 ones.
Kisses from Portugal! :)
Hahahha, i love esp. the high waisted pants part :D Unfortunately, that’s the ugly truth. And thanks fot visiting my blog, I start to follow you :) I’d be really happy, if you follow back too :)
kisses!
I definitely agree with the men.
I don´t like any of these trends much. I can live with the leoprint but the rest is a no go.
I like teh pics so much :)
I love some of these fashion trends..
Sad to know guys dont feel the same .
Ooo Well. I dress for me.
Not for a guy :)

I hate seeing girls in Harem pants all I can think of is a baby with a full nappy.
But those jumpsuits a to die for.
Leopard! It is true that most men hate it. Such a good post because everything is so true.
Angel
haha so true!! My husband hates most of these trends and I agree with him fully. I think I have more of men’s taste in style for women. The only one that he/we don’t hate is the High waisted pants, but at a size 2 I feel pretty comfortable in them. But I do realise that it must be done carefully, and if so then it can really make your legs look miles long. Great post!!

haha omg i really love this post! i dont know how they cant like leopard prints and harem pants! those are some of my favs!
I so agree with everything in this post! My H also doesn’t love the nude/black nail polish trend on me. Harem pants? Seriously!? lol
xaxaa LOL that is so true!!
Hahaha, these are so true! They’re definitely fashions for the single, independent fashionista. Your expectations and reality section cracked me up. I’ll probably be thinking about it throughout the day and burst out into giggles. :)
Thanks for the comment! Following now <3
I think I laughed way more than I should have with this post. It is all very accurate and the responses you wrote are just fantastic!
Hahahaha, this post is awesome and totally true! As I was reading it, I leaned over to my boyfriend and read him the quote about men vs. leopard print and he totally agreed…..there goes that amazing leopard print dress I bought and haven’t worn yet…..
xo
OMG! So true. And I love leopard, definitely jumpsuits, clogs and just recently bought a pair of high waisted pants. Fab post.
Couldn’t agree with this post more – my Mister hates all those things!
hahaha Love this post! My ex boyfriend used to DESPISE my harem pants. He would refuse to leave the house with me if I was wearing them.
Personally, I wouldn’t wear animal prints or harem pants, BUT
@Sabrina’s was the only comment that touched on this: fashion is the only language/media that is dominated by women. We create and keep up trends to communicate and foster community with other women (intentionally or not). Fashion is Feminist, (OH MY!) and one of the few things in western culture that isn’t intimately about pleasing men. Dudes can think trends are ridiculous, but expecting women to change their hobbies, style, identity, to dumb it down so that men can understand holds all of us back. Men have plenty of aspects of culture to themselves, and women just take that in stride. Women and girls should continue (or start) doing whatever the hell they want.
Hilarious article! Reminds me of the leopard print horsehair wedge booties I tried on this weekend. BF depised them, I was in love. Lucky for him they were too small, otherwise I would have snapped those babies up.
Strangely enough, he digs high-waisted pants on me. Think more Chloe tailored than J. Simps nana jeans.
I’m with guys on the harem pants, clogs and all-in-one suits (they are annoying when nature calls). A bit of leopard print is cool.
LOL, great post
I like clogs, but prefer a more stylized version, like the Gorman interpretations. I tend to wear leopard accessories rather than leopard clothes, and if I do, it’s non traditional like my pink and grey Leona dress. I don’t like poo catchers but a drapey fronted pant with a slightly lower crotch is a flattering and stylish look. I have a tailored jumpsuit which looks like shirt and pants, and a Gorman drapey one. Men love these for some reason. Maybe because they know you have to strip to go to the loo?! Finally, high waisted pants are something I only wear under tunic tops. Bad look on me. High waisted pencil and full skirts though? Love them. Cue and Veronika Maine specialise in them and I’ve many. Love them!
I must be one of the lucky ones cause my boyfriend loves most of these except the clogs. If we go some where and i cant choose an outfit he will always suggest a couple and he has such good fashion sense. so many people have said he must be gay but i can stand up and say i know personally he is not. He loves jumpsuits on women and reckons they are one of the best outfits a woman can have. He also likes anything high waisted from shorts to work trousers. Oneday we went shopping and he bought me a black wide leg trouser with the tuxedo look to them plus they were high waisted and they were so sexy and i love them so much and he chose them on his own then got me a nice pair of black suspenders to put with the pants and told me he wanted me to be the hottest girl in the office. this is my number one outfit cause it looks so good and also cause he picked it not all guys are bad and he is proof.
who cares about what men hate??? my body, my clothe, my choice. If they don’t like it then they can go fuck themselves
