RAFW 2011 beauty: Elegantly Subtle
The first post about beauty & makeup trends of the 2011 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) was all about bold colors& striking makeup. Now it’s time for the second beauty round up dedicated to chic subtle looks. In this category, the most interesting and easy to achieve looks out of all makeup trends of the new 2011 – 2012 season, were glowing complexion, big lashes & nude lips.
Big Lashes: One of the easiest ways to add drama and femininity to your look is to apply a thin layer of false lashes. In this season we are aiming either for a fresh youthful look as seen at Magdalena Velevska (first image) dramatic lashes combined with fresh pink lips and rosy cheeks; or an androgynous feminine look seen at Flannel: with nude lips, eyeliner, bronzed cheekbones and temples to accentuate your eyes. Luminous skin: At Therese Rawsthorne, the chic androgynous look perfectly matched the stylised hair. Luminous complexion and bare eye lids teamed with creamy peach lips and accurate brows allowed to create a fresh, elegant look matching light spirit of the entire collection. The translucent “glowing skin” look created by Napoleon Perdis for Rachel Gilbert was achieved by combining softly bronzed cheeks and totally nude lips. To re-create these looks, pay extra attention to your complexion (it needs to be flawless) – apply full coverage foundation and illuminator. Nude lips: Futuristic makeup at Gail Soronda’s (below) is my favourite nude lips look presented at the 2011 RAFW. To take this look off runway, to dull your eyebrows’ natural color simply powder them. To emphasise angelic mood of this look pair your totally nude lips with white hair accessories or clips. Other variations of the nude lip makeup – beige shade of lipstick paired with big lashes as seen at Flannel (second from the top image) or dreamy luminous look demonstrated at Rachel Gilbert’s show (image above). Hope next time you are experimenting with your makeup or looking for some beauty inspiration, these two RAFW beauty wrap ups, Bold Colors & Subtle Looks, will be useful for you :) As for me… well, I better show you the result and how-to in my next Fabulous Friday post this week.
