Trend report: Autumn / Winter 2011 in Australia
The 2011 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival offered plenty of stunning designs for the 2011 winter season. In Australia winters are nothing compare to those in Europe and this explains more liberate Australian winter fashion. There is simply no need for extra-warm wintery clothing.
Here, I present you a compilation of the most interesting and easy to implement trends of the new 2011 season. It may be used as a style guide or inspiration for updating your wardrobe. I hope you will enjoy!
Beige leather (top image)
Whether it is a skirt, dress, jacket or tight pants – leather piece is a must for winter 2011. Stylish, practical and durable! It is easy to become a fan of this trend. The 2011 LMFF 2011 runways designers presented plenty of leather clothing in sophisticated beige, camel and light chocolate colours. The full skirt in light brown by Ana Diaz definitely goes on my lust list!
Bra worn as a top
Sass & Bide, Nina Maya, Willow, Laura Anderson and many other designers offered us to wear bras instead of tops or shirts underneath jackets. Looks quite interesting, though, I am not sure how this trend relates to cold winter weather. Still, it looks uber-hip and if you have a body of a super model and your office dress code allows for such fashion forward moves then why not?
Salmon Color
Bright colour is the major trend of the new 2011 season. Though, salmon pink, bright orange, peach and other shades of that spectrum were dominating on runways in Australia. Whether it is just one piece in bright colour paired with more subtle shades of grey or beige or the entire outfit in salmon pink – such splash of colour will definitely cheer you up in a gloomy winter day. Also, clothing in warm shades of pink will make your skin look fresher – perfect solution for dull winter skin!
Embellished and Metallic Belts
Everything comes with a statement belt this season. Preferably, if it is made of metal like this bronze belt by Sass & Bide or metallic leather belt by Life With Bird. Stunning belts with glossy stones as seen at Thurley will make the plainest dress stand out. This season belts are much narrower than before and worn exactly around your waist. Dressy belt is a perfect addition to any wardrobe and I am already on a search for one for myself.
What do you think about these trends? Is there are any particular piece you will be hunting for your new season wardrobe? As always, would love to know your thoughts, lovelies :)

Adding a leather item to the wardrobe will do me for many seasons, so I like that trend! Also like to add a splash of colour (I’m a colours girl), will be keeping an eye out for some salmon pinks to update the wardrobe xx
I’ve been hunting for beige leather for quite a while now actually! Salmon looks great, but I’ll need to try some things on before I can decide if I can pull off the colour.
So in love with these looks. Makes me want to drive to the airport and hop on a plane and endure the 9 hour plane ride to Australia!

Not a fan of the beige leather. Would love to wear bra as a top but I don’t think I have the figure for it. (correction : I KNOW, not “I don’t think”)
Love the salmon colour outfits. A leather jacket is now on my wishlist, have wanted one for ages!
