Hair Expo 2012 – Opening Gala
Flame red wigs at Romance Was Born Spring Summer 2012
Fashion and hair have a symbiotic relationship. In fact, the way a person wears their hair is inseparable from their personal style. That’s why it was so great to attend the Hair Expo 2012 so soon after Australian fashion week – to find out about the latest trends and styles in hair. Not only it was entertaining in an artistic sense with some great performances, runway shows and music but I got some great tips on styling options, hair care and new styling products. I’ll share this new knowledge with you, darlings, in my upcoming beauty posts but for now I’d like to show some of the most interesting moments from the sensory overload that was the Saturday night Opening Gala.
Show by Sara Allsop, New Zealand hairdresser of the year in 2011: inspired by Art Deco and Post War widows.
Fashion week revisited: showcase of GHD’s Australian fashion week partners
ginger & smart 2012 coloured mohawk
Loose natural waves, at Bec & Bridge in lilac too
carl kapp 2012 – structured silhouette and hair to match
Show by Jayne Allsop, Australian hairdresser of the year in 2011: ethereal and wondrous collection.
super sleek hair gathered at the back was one of the main styles in Jayne Wild’s collection
cascading golden locks
hew hair trend alert: short wigs over hair, also seen at Chanel Resort 2012
giant blythe dolls dance as a finale of the show
The hair genius – Ms Jayne Wild herself
Leaving aside the giant dolls, the three main hair trends for 2012 – 2013:
- super sleek structured hair either with a short bang or partly gathered in a bun at the back
- big hair, i.e. soft brushed through in voluminous waves
- colored hair – including wigs!

Marvelous, love the purple hair :) xx
I love the dark outfits in the beginning! And the hair styles are cool but some of them look too weird haha, e.g. the colored mohawk.
