Last weekend I attended an exhibition opening by Helen Kosenko. Helen is my friend, I knew she is an artist and saw the artworks on Helen’s website. In reality the distinctive style and magnitude of her paintings is mesmerising. In 6 years of artistic career Helen won quite a few prizes and widely recognized in artistic community. She has a brilliant personality and, as many truly talented people, is a little bit shy to talk about her art. Kindly, Helen agreed to be interviewed. So, my readers, here is a little bit about an artist enigmatic world and her inspiration.

MV: When did you start painting?
Helen: I’ve being painting for as long as I can remember.

MV: Where do you draw inspiration for your work?
Helen: Strangely enough – in everyday life! It can be something unusual seen or heard, or even feelings of the moment. The painting begins in my imagination and then, after visualizing, I would start materializing the idea.

MV: What is about painting / drawing you love so much?
Helen: It’s just the way I think and live. Love how simple tools like brush and pencil can say so much and touch so many hearts.

MV: What made you decide to become an artist?
Helen: I think my parents as they always encouraged me to paint. Honestly, cannot imagine doing anything else.

MV: What do you consider your biggest career achievement to date?
Helen: The fact that people recognizing me at the art shows and collect my paintings. To be appreciated is the biggest award.

MV: Wishing I could …
Helen: … have an exhibition in every country we’ll be visiting during our travelling.

MV: Your favorite scent …
Helen: I love Gucci “Envy”. At the moment:)

MV: Treasured possession…
Helen: Big wooden box (3 levels) of Faber-Castell pencils, it takes my breath away! It is a prize for one of my drawings:)

Great interview. :) To be awarded is indeed the greatest reward. I don’t think it’s possible to be an artist without an audience.

BTW, thank you for the comment in my blog. I really appreciate it.
