Baroque

baroque

Baroque. It may be because of the associations with the eponymous era that I really like this print. Especially this modern incarnation in the form of these pants. The side stripes and monochrome colors make it even better. Recently, every opportunity to dress up has included these baroque print trousers.  Here was their debut.

So as I was putting together an ensemble for an event where I was giving a talk on fashion, of course, the final choice was again my baroque favorites. In case you haven’t heard my chatter on Twitter about it, last Saturday I was a guest speaker at an event for women devoted to fashion and personal style. It was very flattering to be invited to speak even though I was a bit out of practice – the last public speech I gave was in uni on Forensic Accounting years ago!

Anyways.. the evening went really well  and it seems like both parties (the speaker and the listeners) enjoyed it. You can find some photos from the actual event here.

The outfit worked well for the event, by the way. An old rule of mine: if you don’t know the dress code – overdress. Its better to be called eccentric than not being noticed at all.

Outfit details: Zara pants (buy similar here), Zambessi skirt, Zara blazer (worn previously here and here), Squire shoes, Colette necklace, engagement ring, Sisley lipstick.

I was wondering how you went with your speech as I saw your mini panic attack/nerves on Twitter! I’m sure everyone loved it as you definitely know what you’re talking about when it comes to fashion & style! Also, loving the print on these pants. I like how the tuxedo stripe breaks up the print a little :-) xx
