Cape: dare to wear

Coco Ribbon black silk cape, hat, styling, summer 2012 fashion, no bra, fashion blog australia

My dear readers, I promised you a fashion experiment didn’t I? Well, here it is! I was given this beautiful silk Coco Ribbon cape for a review and now present you with my vision of how to wear it.

Before we proceed to the next stage, please read this short intro: You’re probably aware that recently designers all around the world are rather inclined to undress us than to dress. Clothes get skimpier and fabrics sheerer with every new fashion season. See-through dresses, hot pants, bra-like tops. Then yesterday, I saw Maison Martin Margiela‘s Spring 2012 bra-less/ topless collection. Here is an example:

I’m grateful that Maison Martin did that. Otherwise I may never be brave enough to make this post. It was sitting in my drafts for almost 2 months. However now, feeling supported in my styling endeavors by one of the most fashion forward designers, I have finally the guts to publish it.

Voila!!!

Embellished capes are great just as they are. If there is enough of silk to wrap yourself sufficiently why bother to wear a top? By the way, if you are curious: no, unfortunately the weather conditions (cold and rain at the time of the shoot) didn’t allow this look to make it to the streets. However, I believe capes worn like this will be the next big thing in fashion! Remember my prophecy when you see this look invading runways next season;)

Thanks to Maison Martin Margiela for supporting me in this idea… and you dear reader, dare to wear?

(Triple) WOow AND I vote FOR the daring § enlightened way you wear this cape Dear, stunningly uncluttered option achieving to prove us that a finery must be worn next to the skin to better express its sensuous potential (“Conspicuous nod of approval”) !!!

    à Bientôt, Antoine

That look is so cool. I could never pull it off, but you do it perfectly. Would you ever wear that cape with nothing underneath in warmer weather?
