Farmer Wants a Wife!

Yes, it’s true there are lonely farmers in Australia and many want a wife (or a husband). It is difficult to find a partner when you live in a crowded city and it’s almost impossible to meet anyone when first grocery store located 150km away.

When I first saw this show, I fell for the whole romance of being on the farm and the idea of riding horses every day. The other part of reality – the actual farmers – was less appealing. If you watched the first series of the Farmer Wants A Wife you know what I am talking about.

By an ironic coincidence, I was invited to participate in the filming of the commercial for the 2011 season of The Farmer Wants a Wife. Despite +45C on the set where the ad was filmed it was a great experience. Totally awesome Channel 9 TV crew, fun co-actors from all around the world and really cool farmers! I also learned how to do line dancing – a great skill if you want to wrangle a farmer. There were so many cool props and decorations at the location – I put some of them on this blog and the rest you can find on my Flickr photo album (there are also more photos of the video shoot & Channel 9 filming crew).

To sum up, I made friends with a local horse (and elephant too) even though the horse was not suitable for a riding.

Farmer wants a wife and this camera operator obviously does not :)

P.S. I would love to hear your opinion about the idea of Farm Romance:) so please leave a comment.

LOL! Looks like you had a lot of fun doing the shoot! :D Well, I think it’s a pretty sweet idea. I would imagine that these farmers are you know busy with working on the farm so much and so have no chance or time to meet their future wives or partners. Would love it though if it’s not the tradition boy meets girl but also incorporating the boy meets boy sort of like “Broke Back Mountain” style or girl meets girl. Now that will be really interesting wouldn’t it??
