New York Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2012 round up No 2

The second post from the New York Fashion Week 2012 series.  While the first trend report was dedicated to futuristic hotness and modern Navajo, the report No 2 shows fierce oriental and feminine looks. It appears that slogan for summer 2012 fashion will be match not matching and mix the unexpected. Oh yes, also remember to die your hair in blue and wear goggles to complete the look!

Altuzarra – Spring Summer 2012

altuzarra new york fashion week 2012 summer trend report brights, skinny leg pants suit, black and white, yellow

Colours: bright warm lime green, yellow, monochrome black and white

Print: neo floral/digital

Fabrics: leather and cotton

Style: sleek, sharp with leather and stilettos, rib tops under blazer

What’s new: bright printed accents on monochrome outfit – floral collar on all white suite; complex cuts with inclusion of print in one tone fabric.

Diane Von Furstenberg – Spring Summer 2012

von furstenberg new trends spring summer 2012 bright shorts, bright pastels, pink color, pijama pants

Colours: creamy brights – warm yellow, peach, sky blue and lilac

Print: bold floral

Fabrics: sheer, flowing silk and chiffon

Style: boy-ish feminine with shorts and pajama-like suits

What’s new: shorts are getting dressier, tops made of textured fabrics with sequins and beads

As you see, designers went mad about brights again. Yet this time it is taken to the next level – colour is thrown together with print. Texture of fabrics is also important. Often one look encompasses more than 4 colours at once breaking old styling rules (i.e. no more than 3 colours in one outfit) and this post demonstrates the new styling approach. So have another look and take notes, if you haven’t already!

xx
